Field Service Technician - Automation

Our client is a technological leader when it comes to intelligent and complex automation solutions and the supplier of choice for our customers.

The main areas of application for series products, individual components and complex system solutions include continuous production processes in the metal, paper and plastic sectors, as well as in the foil and tire industries.

As a Field Service Technician - Automation, your main responsibility is responding to mostly scheduled maintenance appointments, service repairs, software and electronics upgrades, new equipment installation supervision, equipment calibration, and more. A general interest in working with new software, electronics and learning new technologies is desired. 

Having a lot of customer contact, being friendly, knowledgeable and good communication skills are required. An extended training program at our HQ is provided, prior to taking on responsibilities in our US office. Our experienced service department will support you as needed. 


  • Installation supervision and commissioning of equipment and systems
  • Function testing and optimization
  • Instruct customer in function and operation of the equipment, perform final acceptance
  • Replace parts and software moduls as needed, change software to match needed function
  • Maintain and repair existing systems, regarding mechanics, electronics and software
  • Evaluate condition and functionality of existing systems, recommend preventive maintenance
  • Recommend spare parts and upgrades
  • Willingness to travel during the week with overnight stays

Job Requirements

Field Service Technician - Automation



  • Associates or engineering degree, strong focus on electronics and automation or proven successful knowledge and career in required fields.
  • Measuring and control technologies, electronic and software
  • Hardware software interaction evaluation
  • Read wire diagrams, make wiring changes as needed
  • Understand PLC language
  • Understand Mechanic and Hydraulic functions
  • Be able to lift more than 50lbs and work sometimes in steel mill conditions

Good MS-Office skills are required, working independently, great commitment to work and the ability to make confident decisions.
